PayPal Pro: How do I set up my shopping cart to accept payments PayPal
Pro?
Log into
your PayPal Business account. Then select to upgrade to Paypal Pro
from within your account.
Click the Profile Tab, then from the
Profle page click the API Access link

On the API access page, click Request API
credentials.

On the API credentials screen, select the
API SSL Client side certificate radio button, Agree to their contract,
and click Submit.

The next page that it shows you will show
you your and "API Password".
- Select and copy the "API Username:" . In another window open the
shop/owner General Settings page, go to the checkout section and in the
"Credit Card System Username/ID/Echeck UserName: " field paste in the
API Username: value that you copied from the Paypal page.
- Select and copy the "API Password" . In another window open the
shop/owner General Settings page, go to the checkout section and in the
field immediately below the username field which is named "Verisign
Partner ID/ECHO Merchant PIN/ Authorize.Net Transaction key (AIM)/E-xact
Password / Bluepay Secret Key (2.0)/ Echeck Password/ PayPal Pro
Password " field paste in the API Password value that you copied from
the Paypal page.
- In the "E-mail Address (Only for
Paypal pro)" type in your the email used for logging in to the Paypal.
Then click the Downlaod button. It will
prompt you to download the certificate. This file that you are
downloading is the one that you will upload to the "Add Paypal Payment
Pro API Certificate" field on the shop/owner General Settings page. Once
you have downloaded it, use the Browse button to the right of the "Add
Paypal Payment Pro API Certificate. " field to select it from your hard
drive. Then scroll down to the bottom of the General Settings page and
Save your changes.

After downloading the file click the "Back
To Profile Summary" link at the upper right of the page. And again click
on the API Access link. From that page then click "Grant API
Permission". On this page you will actually be granting yourself (not a
3rd party) rights to use the certificate that you downloaded. Paste in
your "API Username" (not the one from the example below) , grant it all
4 permissions, and click Submit.

Now test your shopping cart by placing an
order with your credit card or by testing it with another Paypal email
address (it will not let you pay yourself using your own Paypal email
address)
