Many of you will have a complete inventory in a Spread Sheet already. You can utilize this Spread Sheet to expedite the cart setup process.

The first step is to organize the information in your Spread Sheet into the correct order:

Another GREAT way of getting the spread sheet format is to set up 1 or 2 items in the 'Set Up Inventory' section of the Shop Owner's panel and then Export your list of items. This will create a tab delimited file you may open in Excel that has the proper columns filled in already.

You must create all columns, but you may leave some of the columns blank.

The Required Fields are:

Product Name

Product Description

Price

Category

Parent Category

All other categories are optional. If you are not using inventory control, custom shipping or weight, We recommend at least entering the number 1 in all these fields; This will act as place holders for those columns. Even if there is nothing the other columns, you must have a blank column.

Once your spread sheet is set up correct, save the file as a Text Tab Delimited File. Open the File in your Text Editor to make sure everything looks correct (you may want to make sure your Spread Sheet software did not put in extra quotation marks). Click here to see a sample import file.

Then use the Browse button to find the text file on your computer, then click 'Preview and Import'. This will show you the first 5 items; review them to make sure everything looks correct and finalize the import. Click here to see a screen capture of the second screen. There is a box on the second screen that reads "Ignore "Item Number" field and import all items.", DO NOT check this box IF you are importing items that are already in the shop (this would be a situation where you exported the items in the shop, manipulated the information in a spread sheet and now are uploading the changes). Do check this box if you are uploading new items or if you have left the item number column blank; this will auto assign new item numbers to all the items you are uploading.
